one down, too many more to go

I mentioned a while ago that fall/winter is the time of year I look forward to the least of all year. And one of the reasons for my opinion being what it is, is the holidays. Well today took care of probably my least favorite holiday of all, if you can even call it a holiday, Halloween. Its probably the dumbest days that gets special recognition. The only good things about it are all the candy and watching all the kids get dressed up as stupid things like the Phantom of the Opera guy and try to hula.

But yeah, I could totally do without this day every year. I say next year all of us that live in Nevada should dress up as Abe Lincoln and replay his signing of the proclamation making Nevada a state...anyone down with me?

Hey, I would be totally impressed if I saw a little kid dressed as the Phantom of the Opera guy... But I see the same thing over and over again. Mummy, mummy, princess, superhero, princess, princess, mummy, superhero, and so on... Kids have absolutely NO originality these days...

But I digress... I also particularly loathe this holiday that is all about receiving things (candy) from people you don't even know... Like they owe kids something. And then the kids are ungrateful and complain when they get starburst instead of chocolate... Okay, I'm done now...

This holiday is not for grown-ups. Once you get past that and start to think about all the fun you had with other little kids while trick-or-treating when you were that age, it's fun again.

When I saw the Phantom of the Opera kid, I felt bad for him . . and then thought about how much of his candy I would steal from him if I were 10 again.

When you have kids of your own, Petey, you'll probably enjoy holidays more.

mashed potatoes and gravy....I actually enjoy thanksgiving...time off work, lots of food, and football all one one day, and its not even the weekend yet...but I didn't get to trick or treat as a kid, maybe thats why I have all the pened feelings towards it...

You know, you can do that every saturday and sunday during fall and winter. Many people say, "Act like it's christmas all year long." Why not do the same thing with Thanksgiving and gorge yourself until you fall asleep from it? One time, I ate so much that my right shoulder hurt. Good times.
