Hitting the Wall

I recently ran a marathon...if you count May as being recent. Since I ran this marathon I've actually only ran three times, the latest being this past Wednesday on my day off. I have the mind set of "I was in good shape before the marathon, I did just run a marathon, so I'm still in just as good of shape." Makes sense right? WRONG!!! When I left my house I was feeling really good, hydrated, rested, shoes on tight but not too tight, just really ready for a nice long run. I started at a pace that was way too fast, I think I was doing a 7-8 minute mile pace, which I was usually do 10 min miles when I training for and actually running the marathon, bad idea...but it was down hill, it was natural...but then once I got to the bottom of the hill I realized that I needed to go back up. I think I made it about 100 yards before I "hit the wall." There was no way I could run all the way back where I just came from. This sucked because I was pretty far from my house at this time and had to face the reality of the long walk back. This sucks for me because I had to face the reality that I have lost a lot of what I had gained at the beginning of the year...and that also means I need to run more, but I've gotten pretty lazy and there's so much good stuff on TV right now with the new seasons starting...

My running has pretty much sucked, too. And I agree with your mum--uphill first is better.

GET DOWN AND GIVE ME 50, FLYBOY! We're going to have to get some motivation into your body. Bring on the pain!

Sorry, just a little USMC flash-back.

Petey - its amazing how quickly health fitness can be lost....and then the slow trail back but its worth it...Your body will love you as you get older for staying healthy now.
